Bio:

Robin Starkey Harpster, MA is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a practice at the Institute for Girls’ Development in Pasadena, an innovative psychological corporation specializing in services for girls, women, families and their circles of community. At the Institute, Robin is Coordinator for the New and Young Families Program, where Robin and her team bring a unique embodied approach to individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy and workshops for pregnant and new moms and their partners. Robin’s passion for working with women making their way through the often challenging transition to new parenthood stemmed from her personal experience with perinatal depression and anxiety with her first daughter. She seeks to make a difference in the larger arena of perinatal health and awareness through her participation on the board of directors for Postpartum Support International.

In her general psychotherapy practice Robin loves collaborating with families to find strength, mindful balance and a family style that works for them. For girls and women it’s about discovering their unique gifts, skills and guiding them on their own path to self-discovery and healing. She earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara and a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Santa Barbara. Her pre-licensure experience was obtained at Girls Incorporated of Santa Barbara and Aviva Children’s and Family Services in Los Angeles.

Robin serves as a coordinator for the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of The Motherhood Consortium, an inclusive community of individuals who provide care and nurturing for mothers, families and their babies either through education, enrichment or social/emotional support. Robin is also a “Parenting Expert Columnist” for Macaroni Kid Pasadena and for the Institute for Girls’ Development Newsletter – providing tips, tools and resources to empower parents and help families thrive.

Robin’s professional memberships include: Postpartum Support International (PSI), California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and Selective Mutism Group.
