Manuel Alvarez, M.D., a dedicated medical professional and pioneer of innovative advances in technology, is an internationally acclaimed medical executive. Highly educated in the science of medicine, Dr. Alvarez has had a distinguished career as an accomplished practitioner of clinical medicine and also a successful medical administrator having managed major clinical department of several university medical centers in New York and New Jersey.

Since 1992, Dr. Alvarez has been able to share his vision of healthcare and his knowledge of medicine to a much wider audience. Through the medium of television, he has been able to educate the public and provide valuable medical information to serve the needs of the listening and viewing audience. His journalistic approach to even the most highly technical aspects of healthcare is always delivered in an entertaining, friendly and humanistic fashion. Dr. Alvarez, M.D., better known as Dr. Manny, is senior medical contributor for Fox News Channel. He is also the Health Managing Editor for FOXNews.com. He regularly appears on the daytime programs FOX & Friends and other Fox News Channel programs offering his expertise on medical and health issues. Additional television credits include a variety of local, national and international programming for CNN INTERNATIONAL, FOX NEWS, WORLD NEWS REPORT, ABC, CBS, NBC and UNIVISION CHANNEL 41. Presently, Dr. Alvarez has expanded his programming line as the health science reporter for TELEMUNDO, CHANNEL 47.

Drawing on his Latin American culture and in an effort to attract a more comprehensive and international audience, Dr. Alvarez has created a production platform to deliver his healthcare message to the Spanish oriented community. The Latin American community has grown enormously and will continue to expand. Currently, there are over 40 million Latinos living in the United States and through his dynamic journalism and "folksy" controversial style, Dr. Alvarez not only teaches but also entertains his audience as they invite him into their homes.

As the "voice of medicine" to the Latino community, Dr. Alvarez continues to modulate his message to educate his target audience and in doing so, he promotes good health. As the health reporter for Noticiero 47 TELEMUNDO, he is known as "Dr. Manny" and he has developed a nightly news segment entitled "A Dose of Health." This is truth journalism providing breaking health news and accurate information as Doctor Manny interviews experts in the field of medicine. These health segments are also seen live on TELEMUNDO CHANNEL 47 in their 12 PM time slot.

These segments of "A Dose of Health" have won wide acclaim from media executives and the overwhelming response of the audience has made Doctor Manny the "Peoples' Doctor." This success has opened the door for "Doctor Manny" WITH TELEMUNDO CHICAGO, where his televised segments have received national attention from media executives. Doctor Manny has collaborated with TELEMUNDO in organizing health fairs and health expos in both Chicago and New York.

Doctor Manny also produces, directs and hosts his own talk radio program "Let's Talk About It." This informative program provides an interactive forum for listeners to talk directly with Doctor Manny and his varied quest specialists about a wide variety of medical concerns. He again is able to connect with his Latino audience in a friendly, entertaining and non-threatening style that is truly "Doctor Manny."

Since 1996, Dr. Alvarez has been the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Science at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Additionally he is Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University School of Medicine in New York City, as well as Visiting Professor at Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is also Board Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Alvarez is a member of many professional societies including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society of Prenatal Café and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. He has been active in many civic foundations including the Celia Cruz Foundation and; in 2004 Dr. Alvarez was named the Man of the Year by New Jersey SEEDS, an organization that provides students educational scholarships.

Beginning August 2005, Dr. Manny became Medical Contributor and Medical Correspondent for FOX News Channel. He reported on the Katrina disaster and also develops segments for Fox & Friends, Fox News Live and Dayside. He is also a regular contributor to FOX News Radio as well as a weekly segment the NY Flagship Station Fox 5. He has a daily blog in FoxNews.com and a Dr. Manny Bookclub at the Fox News website.

In February 2007, Dr. Manny was invited to appear in the Rachael Ray show and has since been named the show's Resident Doctor with regular scheduled appearances. He is also a regular guest on the Montel Williams show, where he addresses new medical discoveries as well as medical conditions that affect the average population.

Born in Cuba, Dr. Alvarez lives in New Jersey and is married to his lovely wife, Katarina. They have three children, Rex, Ryan and Olivia.
