WELCOME TO THE ILLINOIS RESOURCE PAGE FOR PSI. We are glad you found us. This page lists the PSI Coordinators and other area resources such as groups, telephone support, and reliable services that are available for no charge. We also list local events, trainings, and volunteer opportunities.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR PSI COORDINATOR: PSI Coordinators offer caring and informed support and resources to moms and their families. They also provide information and resources for area providers who are caring for pregnant and postpartum families. Please don’t hesitate to contact us; we want to hear from you.

You will see the term “perinatal” in these pages. We use perinatal to mean the time during pregnancy, birth, and through the first year postpartum.

SUPPORT GROUPS

The following groups offer support at no charge for women who are at risk of or are experiencing distress such as isolation, depression, anxiety, fearful thoughts, insomnia, trauma, and other difficulties during pregnancy or postpartum. Support groups provide a safe and caring place for connection and recovery. Please call or email for more information.


Nurturing Mom's Support Group

A support group for new and expectant Moms (babies welcome!) who may be experiencing anxiety, difficulty sleeping, or any issues related to the transition to parenthood.  This group is led by a certified perinatal clinical therapist.

Family Time Support Group

This is a support group for new Moms, Dads, Partners, Grandparents( & babies!). All family members are welcome. Learn about perinatal mood disorders, how these can affect the entire family, as well as how to lend meaningful support at this important time. This group is led by a psychotherapist/post- doctoral fellow who is also a certified perinatal mood disorders specialist.

Door of Hope is a self-help group for women experiencing postpartum anxiety and/or depression.  We seek to provide mothers with a place to share experiences, discuss problems and obtain support in a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere.  Our goal is to educate and empower moms, giving them hope as they move through the process of recovery.

Central DuPage Hospital recognizes that perinatal mood disorders are a common challenge for many women.  Our Postpartum Connection Support Group provides new mothers with the supportive intervention that is crucial during this time of transition.  If you are experiencing any of the perinatal mood disorder symptoms, our facilitators are specially trained to help and support you. Children are welcome.

This service will also give mothers the opportunity to talk, listen and share their experiences with other women experiencing similar feelings.
