This June, Postpartum Support International and NAMI Minnesota join hands to raise awareness around pregnancy and postpartum mental health at our 26th annual conference, held at the Minneapolis Convention Center from June 19-22, 2013. Our conference brings together and informs medical and mental health providers, childbirth professionals, support and resource providers, caregivers, policy-makers, researchers, volunteers, families, and educators who want to improve their understanding of postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and improve their ability to serve childbearing families.
At our conference banquet on Friday, June 21st, 2013, we host a silent auction to raise funds for Postpartum Support International. With members and volunteers across the globe, PSI disseminates information and resources through its volunteer coordinators, website, professional trainings, and annual conference. Our goal is to increase awareness among public and professional communities about the emotional changes that women experience during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Approximately 15% of all women will experience postpartum depression following the birth of a child. Up to 10% will experience depression or anxiety during pregnancy. PSI is the only worldwide organization with an international team of dedicated volunteers who provide informed telephone and email support around the world at no cost to families. We rely on membership and donations to sustain our ability to provide current information, resources, education, and advocacy for further research and legislation to support perinatal mental health.
As a non-profit organization, a large part of our funding comes through donations and fundraisers like our annual silent auction. We would be honored and grateful if you might consider donating to our auction. It may be a gift certificate, basket of goodies, an item from your retail store or company, or simply a financial donation with which we purchase an enticing auction item. All proceeds from the auction directly support PSI programs and services accessible to families, and we appreciate your generosity. All vendors and businesses will be featured and thanked in our banquet program.
