Laurence Kruckman, PhD

Laurence Kruckman received his PhD in anthropology in 1977 and completed a NIMH postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois Medical Center in social epidemiology. He has researched issues on birth, fatherhood and the postpartum for 25 years and his articles and reviews have appeared in Social Science and Medicine, American Anthropologist and Medical Anthropology Quarterly. He is currently professor of anthropology and was named Distinguished University Professor in 2002. He was a founding member of PSI; elected PSI President-elect and created the PSI website, postpartum.net. He resides in Indiana, Pennsylvania with his wife Carolyn, a childbirth educator, and son Alex.
