Bio:

Dr. Sparago received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Hunter College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went on to do preclinical research at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in the field of neurotoxicology. He received his medical education at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, where he was inducted into the medical honor society and received the Jacob Fiensiger award for excellence in psychiatry. Dr. Sparago completed his residency training in psychiatry at UCLA where he received training in perinatal psychiatry at the UCLA Women’s Life Center. He has completed a research fellowship exploring how women make the decision to take medications for depression during pregnancy. Dr. Sparago is currently a clinical instructor at the UCLA Women’s Life Center where he supervises the care of pregnant and postpartum women presenting with psychiatric illness. He also maintains a private practice with a specialty in perinatal psychiatry. Dr. Sparago also teaches psychopharmacology at Pepperdine University, as well as lecturing to residents in training at UCLA.
